Callidus provided a Transport Assessment, a transportation chapter
for an Environmental Statement and other planning support documentation for these
sensitive projects – waste facilities are rarely welcomed by local residents!
Approval of the proposals was negotiated with the Highways Agency
who were protective of the impact upon the A30 trunk road. This included junction
capacity and safety assessments of the site access and A30 junctions,
together with a queuing analysis of the Scorrier facility to
ensure that queues generated by people using the facilities could be contained on
the site.
Analyses were also carried out and strategies proposed for preventing undesirable car and lorry routings to
the facilities via unsuitable country lanes. This required a detailed examination
of expected trip origins and destinations for both the refuse collection vehicles
and and local residents using the facility as a refuse disposal facility.
The Scorrier project included a refuse transfer facility which
required a special analysis on the movement of HGV’s and specialist plant operating
in the facility.
A detailed design for
the accesses to the sites and other associated off-site works was carried out to
obtain a approval from the highway
and waste authority.
